1199SEIU is fortunate to have hundreds of member activists ready to go whenever needed to fight the good fights. That is why wherever we go our Union is referred to as the “Political Powerhouse!” Now is the time to take on issues where we live since service reductions, foreclosures, and hospital closings that we continually read about are affecting us right in our own back yards. Well, we’re ready to do just that.
In the coming months, we will launch the 1199 MAC, or Member Action Committees, in neighborhoods where members have expressed an interest or desire to get involved in the day-to-day issues of our communities. We have an opportunity to organize our brothers and sisters and neighbors around issues that affect us all, utilizing the vast networks within our communities and impacting positive outcomes in our own neighborhoods. We can make the power of the union and the power of being united work for us on a local level. Now is the time to plan for our future to work together for the betterment of our families and community.
