In Massachusetts Largest Union Vote of 2012, Nearly 500 Workers at Morton Hospital Join 1199SEIU
Nearly 500 caregivers at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA have voted overwhelmingly (94 percent Yes) to join 1199SEIU in what is the largest union organizing vote of 2012 in Massachusetts. 1199SEIU is the largest union of healthcare workers in Massachusetts, and also the fastest growing union in the state.

This week, radio ads featuring 1199SEIU Florida healthcare workers are hitting the airwaves in Tampa and Miami to encourage voters to get to the polls to vote early.

Two massive new banners adorning 1199SEIU’s Manhattan headquarters at 310 W.43rd St. proclaim the Union’s support for President Obama and remind the millions of passersby and visitors to the Times Square area about some of what’s at stake in the Nov. 6 election: worker’s rights, healthcare, women’s rights, and Medicare and education.
1199ers, SEIU 200 United Join to Demand Fair Contracts at Strong Memorial Hospital and U of Rochester
1199SEIU and SEIU Local 200 United members at Strong Hospital and the University of Rochester has just completed a strong week of action in support of their contract negotiations. On October 9, members overwhelmingly voted to authorize a picket for October 12.
Determined St. Mary’s Workers Fight for Contract in Shadow of New Hospital Pavilion
St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside, Queens opened a sparkling new $114 million patient pavilion on September 27. And on the same day St. Mary’s workers held a rally to tell management to settle a fair contract. St. Mary’s workers have been struggling to win an agreement since voting overwhelmingly for 1199SEIU representation in August and September of 2011.
