CANCELLED: Emergency High Risk Medications in the Medical Surgical Settings

PURPOSE: To enhance knowledge and skills of the Professional Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses in dealing with emergency high risk medications in the medicalsurgical areas.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This course is designed for all RNs and LPNs who are assigned in a Medical-Surgical units.

Program Objectives

  • Explain the importance of early recognition, immediate response, the role of emergency drugs, and the risks involved in treatment delays during emergency situations.
  • Discuss pharmacological concepts and drug receptors
  • Discuss different classifications, actions, indications, physiologic and adverse responses to drugs used during medical emergencies.
  • Describe pharmacological management, nursing implications and interventions for improving the outcomes of patients in acute states.
