“We have not forgotten Congressman Faso’s vote to rip away healthcare and Medicaid from millions of Americans”

One year ago today, the most unpopular bill in the history of healthcare passed the House: The American Health Care Act. Also known as Trumpcare 1.0, thousands and thousands of concerned Americans were able to make their voices heard and stopped it from passing the Senate — by one single vote. That’s how close it came to achieving its dangerous mission.

Congressman John Faso supported that bill, as well as many versions after that. If the disastrous bill had passed the Senate, it would have gutted Medicaid, ripped healthcare from an estimated 24 million Americans, increased healthcare costs by as much as 20 percent, and put millions of individuals out of work.

Last week, 1199SEIU launched radio and print ads, as a prelude to the upcoming boots on the ground campaign that will hold Congressional Republican Faso, as well as Stefanik and Tenney accountable for their votes that would have decimated the Affordable Care Act. You can see and hear the ads here.

The CD-19 “I Vote For Healthcare Campaign” is part of a larger effort of healthcare voters across the country who are visiting their neighbors and co-workers, and collecting signed commitment cards, pledging to educate other voters about what the real cost could have been, if Congress had won full repeal of the Affordable Care Act.

The social media component: Using the hashtag #healthcarevoter, each time a neighbor or friend commits to becoming a “healthcare voter,” they proudly post a selfie(s) to Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. Some examples here.
