BOSTON - Audrey Malone was nervous that day. Standing in front of a large group of her peers, Audrey, a personal care attendant from Brockton, slowly made her way through a brief presentation on her life experiences. She felt as though she made several mistakes the first time and she wanted to redo it so that she could improve on her public speaking skills.

BOSTON - On Saturday, May 11, one day before Mothers’ Day, members of the SEIU African American Caucus in Massachusetts threw a grand celebration in honor of mothers and the many contributions they make to our families. More than 100 people attended the event.

BOSTON - On Tuesday, April 30, after weeks of door knocking, phone calls, and speaking with registered voters across Massachusetts, 1199SEIU members helped candidates in Massachusetts win victories in two key races in the Democratic Primary.

NORTH ADAMS - Mike O’Brien, a union delegate a North Adams Regional Hospital for more than three decades, recently retired from his position as a respiratory therapist at the hospital and has left behind a legacy that includes union activism, political advocacy, fighting for the rights of workers and serving the patients of NARH and the community.

In April, 1199SEIU members at three different hospitals across Massachusetts (Boston Medical Center, North Adams Regional Hospital, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital) ratified new contracts. At all three facilities, union members had to work hard and mobilize to preserve benefits, receive wage increases, and maintain their rights on the job.

BOSTON - In April, 1199SEIU members attended an energetic rally in historic Faneuil Hall in the heart of Boston that drew more than 800 people. The rally’s theme centered on the need for comprehensive immigration reform that allows all immigrants a clear, equitable path to citizenship.

BOSTON - On Monday, April 15, in the wake of the tragic events that unfolded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, 1199SEIU members, fellow frontline responders, and others jumped into action to provide care and comfort to victims of the tragedy.

At this very hour, 1199SEIU healthcare workers continue to provide care and support at Boston Medical Center and elsewhere to patients and families impacted by these terrible events.

Martha’s Vineyard - At Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Martha’s Vineyard, 1199SEIU members voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new one-year contract at the facility. The contract vote came on the heels of a previous vote to hold an informational picket at the home.

BOSTON - With the tax season upon us, 1199SEIU members are participating in a free tax service that is helping them ensure they receive thousands of dollars in refunds and pay only the taxes they owe.
