After meeting with the Jordan Health administration on Wednesday, union members rejected what Jordan Health calls its final offer.

Ongoing negotiations, which began back in November of 2017, led to 1199 SEIU Healthcare Workers going on a three-day strike back in June after failing to settle a contract dispute over wages and health care benefits.

“We urge 1199 to accept the final offer approved by the Jordan Health board of directors," President and CEO of Jordan Health Dr. Janice Harbin said in a statement.

The latest offer does not include a wage increase for this year, but does include a four-percent wage increase starting Jan. 1, 2019 and a two-percent wage increase on Jan. 2, 2020.

The rejected offer also includes the following:

• An additional 1.25-percent wage increase Jan. 1, 2019 for employees with 30 years or more of service

• Increases in shift differential in both 2019 and 2020

• Payment by Jordan Health for the cost of certain certifications necessary for employees to maintain their position

• Increased reimbursement for professional books and periodicals

• Additional bereavement time that employees may use in the event of the loss of a loved one who resides out of the area

• Establishment of a joint committee to identify enhanced training opportunities for employees

"We value all of our Jordan Health family and will continue to do what is right and fair for all," Dr. Harbin said. "We are disappointed and saddened that 1199 has refused an offer that is fair, fiscally responsible and enables Jordan Health to continue to provide health care for the thousands of patients we service each year, and for the last fifty years, regardless of insurance or ability to pay."
