“Christmas came early for me this year when I won the computer,” said Ereline Davis, a rehab aide at St. Elizabeth Ann’s Healthcare and Rehab Center in Staten Island, NY. “I’ve never won anything before.

“Out of the blue one night, one of my fellow 1199SEIU Delegates called and said, ‘Guess what? You won a computer.’ I couldn’t believe it. I kept saying ‘What? What? What?’ I told her, ‘You made my day, my night, my Christmas.”

Ereline is computer literate, having taken classes through the Union’s Training Fund. But, she says, “I’ve been wanting a laptop for years. This is wonderful.”

An 1199SEIU Delegate for the past year, Ereline is taking a pre-LPN course offered by the Training Fund. Presuming she passes, she’ll be looking into colleges to enroll in to become an LPN. “I’ll certainly be using my computer in school. That’s for sure.”
