On the occasion of the Governor’s budget address, New Jersey 1199SEIU members, together with other unions and progressive groups, rallied in front of the State House in Trenton on February 21. 

The dedicated caregivers of 1199 SEIU at Concord Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lakewood Township have ratified a new labor contract following negotiations with management. 

A new labor contract will be adopted today by union members, following several days of voting on a proposal that will affect more than four hundred nursing home caregivers at long-term care facilities operated by Seniors Management North, Inc.

Approximately 1,300 1199 SEIU caregivers from thirteen nursing homes owned by Genesis HealthCare in New Jersey have accepted a  settlement reached between management and the Union. 

1199SEIU, New Jersey’s largest long-term-care union, has called upon the state legislature in Trenton to pass the marriage equality legislation proposed by lawmakers earlier this month.

Members of the largest long-term care union in New Jersey, 1199SEIU caregivers gathered on December 9 at the headquarters of Seniors Management-North, Inc. in Cherry Hill to ask for a fair contract for workers at four nursing homes. The institutions are located in Barnegat, Galloway, Manchester Township and Wanaque.

1199SEIU members in New Jersey gathered in Newark on December 5 for the “March and Rally for Jobs, Peace, Justice and Equality” organized by the People's Organization for Progress (POP).

A recent ruling from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has called on the Care One nursing home chain to fully reinstate and compensate 1199SEIU members who were unlawfully terminated from Somerset Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bound Brook, NJ.

In an act of solidarity on November 17, the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, more than fifty 1199SEIU New Jersey members made the trip to New York City, where they gathered with their fellow union members at Foley Square in lower Manhattan.
