1199 has endorsed an initiative to issue “Green Apple Bonds” that would pay for the removal of toxic chemicals from New York City schools and could possibly be used in the future to make our healthcare facilities more energy efficient.

On Tuesday, the SUNY Board of Trustees voted a second time, unanimously, to close Long Island College Hospital, which employs more than 2,200 dedicated caregivers, nurses, and doctors and provides vital care for 100,000 Brooklyn patients a year.
