NYC Homecare Members Fight Benefit Cuts

May 10, 2012

Hundreds of Metropolitan New York area homecare members began picketing homecare agencies in April to protest the arbitrary termination of contractual benefits by those agencies.

On January 1, the agencies arbitrarily decided to cut accrued fringe time, vacation days, sick time, shift differential pay and medical benefits. Homecare workers and their supporters picketed Sunnyside Home Care on April 18; First Chinese Presbyterian, April 19; Beth Emmeth, April 25: CABS Home Attendant and Housekeepers, April 26; and Bronx Jewish Community Council, May 3.

1199SEIU will continue the picketing and fight for the homecare members until all benefits are restore.
