With three weeks left before the election, Elizabeth Warren has clearly established herself as the candidate for working people and has the support of the healthcare workers of 1199SEIU.

Elizabeth Warren has been a tireless fighter, holding big banks and corporations accountable to the middle class, and protecting our jobs and rights as workers. Elizabeth will keep Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security strong for our families by asking millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes.

1199SEIU members throughout Massachusetts have hit the ground running making phone calls, knocking on doors, holding signs and speaking to hundreds of Massachusetts residents about the importance of voting for Warren.

Lionel Lubin, an 1199SEIU member at Avery Manor Nursing Home, will spend the last few weeks before the election knocking on doors and speaking with Massachusetts voters and his coworkers about what is at stake in this election.

When asked what he will say on the doors when speaking to voters, Lionel said:

“I usually tell people about what she is going to do [in the Senate]. She is going to help Obama do a good job.”

Akesha Baptiste, a personal care attendant and member political organizer, has been knocking on doors the last several weeks speaking with Massachusetts voters. Knocking predominantly on doors in Dorchester, the largest suburb in Boston and known for low voter turnout, Akesha said that she speaks from the heart when speaking with the people in the community.

“Most of the time, I tell people what Warren wants to accomplish. She works for the middle class,” she said.

As 1199SEIU members work diligently to help get Warren elected, union members have also been volunteering to help re-elect President Barack Obama. President Obama has been a champion for working people and both he and Elizabeth Warren are the candidates to help ensure that working people are put ahead of the rich and corporate interests. Union member have become “weekend warriors” and have travelled to New Hampshire to speak with Granite State residents about what’s at stake and the importance of their votes.
