Through hard work and dedication, our union bargaining committee has proposed:
- Wage increases and protections against reductions in our benefits for the duration of our contract
- A restoration of the benefits that were reduced in 2009, including 401(k) match and extended illness
We also reached reached a tentative agreement (TA) with management on two contract proposals.
"I think it’s great that we put the wages and benefits package across the table. It’s an important step to ensuring we are fairly compensated for our dedication to our patients. Bargaining has been a real eye-opener for me to learn more about the challenges in each department, and it’s been nice to see everyone working together."
- John Caldwell, HVAC Mechanic, PBGMC
“We are all coming together from different departments around common goals. We’re realizing that there are issues throughout the hospital and we are addressing them together in bargaining. Our union bargaining committee wants to achieve fairness for everyone, job security and improved employee satisfaction."
- Miriam Dawson, RN, PBGMC
Additionally, our committee proposed float clusters that would enhance safe floating, and improvements to holidays and vacation scheduling.
Our bargaining committee is now waiting to receive several counter proposals from the hospital, and we will continue working together to reach an agreement on our entire contract.
