A healthcare worker at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach who faced termination after being accused of stealing a newspaper kept her job after a union delegate stepped up to ensure the employer followed the agreed upon contract.

Without a strong union contract in place to prevent employees from being terminated without cause, this worker who was wrongfully accused of stealing the newspaper could have been summarily fired.

By standing together in collective bargaining with their employer, the workers at St. Mary’s secured a fair union contract that includes job security and prevents them from being wrongfully terminated.
