NYC Labor Chorus 20th Anniversary Concert

October 19, 2011

The New York City Labor Chorus, which includes several 1199ers, will mark 20 years of rousing songs for the labor rights, peace justice and equality with a 20th anniversary concert Nov. 5, 8 p.m., at Manhattan’s Town Hall.

During the past 20, the Chorus has lent its voice to major struggles in the labor and progressive movements and has appeared with other well-known people’s artists. The pre-eminent progressive troubadour Pete Seeger says of the Chorus:

“The New York City Labor Chorus deserves our praise and support. For 20 years, they have been singing songs for peace and justice – from union halls to picket lines, from Sweden to Wales, and most recently to Cuba; from the Paul Robeson Centennial to my own 90th birthday base. In these times of crisis, we need this great Chorus as never before.”
