Support U.S. Labor Against the War; Wisconsin Teachers Union Leader at 1199 HQ Nov. 10

November 9, 2011

U.S. Labor Against the War (USLAW), of which 1199SEIU is a founding member, and its New York City chapter will hold its annual fundraiser this Thursday, November 10, in the 1199SEIU Penthouse at 330. W.42nd St. from 6-8 pm.

The evening’s guest speaker is Bryan Kennedy, President of the Wisconsin state branch of the American Federation of Teachers. Kennedy will report on the latest developments in labor's battle with Governor Scott Walker and with the anti-union legislation now being implemented in Wisconsin.

USLAW and its chapters have been labor’s main voice in calling for an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the redirection of excessive military spending to domestic needs. USALW is also active in building solidarity with Iraqi trade unions. The organization works with numerous veterans’, student, community, and religious organizations.
