Buffalo, New York’s Purple Gold chapter held a summer BBQ bash and back to school give a way on August 4.



The BBQ was a way for young members of 1199SEIU to get to know one another at a fun, family friendly atmosphere. The event featured face painting and various games for the kids. School-age children each received a back-to-school book bag filled with school supplies. Thanks to the support of the young leaders of Purple Gold, community, and staff of 1199SEIU, the chapter was able to fill 75 book bags full of school supplies for kids ranging from kindergarten to high school.



The Purple Gold mission is to engage, educate, and empower the young members of 1199SEIU. Through educational workshops, new technology, social events, and mentorship opportunities, Purple Gold creates pathways for growth and leadership development.

All 1199 members 35 and under in the Buffalo area are encouraged to attend a Purple Gold planning meeting on Monday, September 10 at 4 pm at the 1199 Buiffalo office located at 2421 Main Street.
