As healthcare workers, we have dedicated our lives to caring for the total well-being of our patients, families and communities. But now, our values and our world are under attack by extreme right-wing politicians and corporate CEOs who want to destroy environmental protections and burn billions more tons of dirty fuels to make bigger profits. Here’s why we will be joining hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans at the Climate March:
CLEAN WATER AND AIR. The process of digging up, transporting and burning dirty fuel like oil, gas and coal creates toxic pollution and is a direct threat to the water we drink and the air we breathe.
PUBLIC HEALTH. Pollution and global warming threaten public health, with increases in asthma and the spread of viruses like Zika, Chikungunya and West Nile.
GOOD JOBS. We need to create millions of good jobs through massive investment in clean energy manufacturing, construction and innovation, especially solar and wind technology.
CLIMATE CHANGE. Too often, working families, communities of color, seniors, and the poor are hit hardest by the floods, droughts, wildfires and superstorms caused by climate change. The world’s scientists warn that we must stop burning dirty fuel and transition to a 100% clean energy economy immediately in order to avoid global catastrophe.
