Q: Why are you happy to have a union?

A: “There are a lot of reasons. You are on an equal footing with management. You have job security. The benefits of going to school through the 1199SEIU Training and Upgrading Fund. Thanks to the TUF, I have been able to go back to school. The union allows the opportunity for workers and management to collaborate on solving problems.”

Q: What do you find enjoyable about being a union delegate?

A: “I find it enjoyable in the fact that I can help my co-workers out. We can have a shared pool of knowledge and help fix things in our building and address certain issues. Some people have really great minds, but don’t have the voice. They need someone to be the voice for them.”

Q: You’re a member political organizer and quite active in door-knocking and speaking to others about the importance of voting. What made you want to become an MPO?

A: “I have a passion for politics. I thought it was a great opportunity to get involved with the union and community.”
