The National Labor Relations Board has approved new rules that would speed the pace of union elections, making it easier for workers to join unions. The rules simplify current procedures and could reduce delays that have in the past held up union elections after workers already collected enough signatures to form a union. The rules take effect April 30, 2012.

The United State Chamber of Commerce immediately filed a lawsuit challenging the rules, claiming they don’t give employers enough time to respond.
