1199SEIU Celebrates the American Worker

June 9, 2012

The traditional last day of The Great New York State Fair begins on a positive note with our annual Labor Day Parade. 1199SEIU proudly marched with our brother and sister union members from all over Central New York to celebrate the lives of American workers, past and present.

Joining us in our fight to support the labor movement from negative attacks were 1199SEIU endorsed candidates Dan Maffei and Al Stirpe. Dan Maffei is in a heated contest with current Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle for the 24th Congressional district.

Buerkle, who supports the Romney/Ryan budget that turns Medicare into a voucher system, is also no fan of the labor movement. Al Stirpe is running to reclaim State Assembly for the 127th district. Al and Dan both shared a message about the importance of supporting the middle class, job creation, and keeping healthcare affordable for everyone.

It’s important that we keep the momentum and positive inspiration we created at this rally by voting for our endorsed candidates on November 6th. Encourage your friends and family to register to vote, and tell them what the labor movement means to you.
