“Today’s decision in the Derek Chauvin case is a victory for humanity and for the work being done to fight for freedom for all Americans.

“We are still battling a pandemic that shut down the world and forced so many of us to isolate as a way of protecting our loved ones and ourselves. It was the humanity of our healthcare heroes that has helped us pull through.

“George Floyd was a father, and a son, and a brother. His life mattered, and it was cut short by someone sworn to protect and serve. Today’s verdict is confirmation that though inequality still exists in our nation, the work being done for racial justice is not coming back to us void. There is still work to be done, and we are committed to continuing the fight, because none of us is free until all of us are free.”
