Today we welcome more than 115 technical workers at Northern Westchester Hospital into the 1199SEIU family. They will now be able to negotiate with the hospital’s existing 1199 bargaining unit, which is part of the LIJ Northwell Health System, to win better pay and benefits.

The new members voted by 55 to 29 to join their service worker colleagues at the hospital, where some of the best pay and benefits in New York State have already been won.

By providing compassionate and professional care to people in the Hudson Valley, our new colleagues embody the spirit of 1199 members.

1199SEIU is the largest healthcare workers union in the US, with more than 450,000 members in five states along the Eastern seaboard. We are one of the fastest growing unions in the country.

As well as having a larger say in their working lives, the newest members at Northern Westchester voted to join our union to enable them to negotiate for 1199’s no cost healthcare benefits, child care, job security and educational benefits.
