Planned Parenthood Wins Strong Contract

1199-Planned-Parenthood-Contract.jpgPlanned Parenthood Foundation of America (PPFA) members in New York City unanimously ratified their second contract on April 1.

The agreement raises the starting salary to $60,000, which is a $5,000 increase on the floor established at the first contract.

Members also won a sliding scale for employee health insurance contributions so that the lowest paid employees will pay less. The agreement includes an additional month of parental leave, office closure for winter holidays and eligibility for sabbatical after ten years.

Bargaining committee member Peyton Humphreville said:

“We had a ton of member engagement throughout the bargaining process. While our non-economic gains were more significant than our economic ones, I think we learned important lessons. We’re now better situated to assert our collective power outside of bargaining.”
