1199SEIU Announces First Endorsements for 2026

1199SEIU today announced its first round of endorsements for the 2026 New York legislative elections. The union represents 450,000 frontline caregivers on the East Coast, including 300,000 hospital, nursing home, home care, and clinic workers throughout New York State.
“1199SEIU caregivers are proud to endorse these candidates who will fight for frontline healthcare workers, our patients, and our communities,” said Dell Smitherman, New York State Political and Campaigns Director for 1199SEIU. “As New Yorkers confront unprecedented attacks from the federal government, we need real leaders who will stand up for good union jobs, quality healthcare, affordable housing, and civil rights. From Long Island to Buffalo, 1199SEIU healthcare workers are ready to volunteer knocking doors, talking to voters, and doing whatever it takes to ensure that working people win this November.”
