1199SEIU Members Denounce Trump’s Racist Attacks Against Haitians in Brooklyn & Long Island
September 19, 2024
Earlier today healthcare workers employed in hospitals, nursing homes, home care and community-based settings stood in solidarity with the Haitian community in the face of recent attacks.
Caregivers denounced Donald Trump’s racist lies and rhetoric directed at Haitians and other migrants in front of two Brooklyn hospitals, Interfaith Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center, at lunchtime. Later in the day, 1199SEIU healthcare workers joined with Long Island residents in Uniondale demanding Donald Trump and JD Vance stop spreading their politics of hate and division.
Absent any real plan to improve the lives of the American people, the Republican Party and their billionaire donors are spreading hate and blaming immigrants for the challenges our country is facing to deflect attention from their efforts to take away our freedoms, erode workers’ rights, and weaken our democracy. 1199SEIU, the largest healthcare union in New York and the country, is holding them accountable by speaking out and working to elect Kamala Harris our next President.
