The clerical, paralegal and social work staff of Legal Aid, members of 1199SEIU, issued the following statement in support of UAW Local 2325 Association of Legal Advocates and Attorneys (“ALAA”) in their fight to achieve a fair and equitable contract. Late yesterday, 91% of UAW Local 2325 members voted to authorize a strike.

 

“We stand in solidarity with our Legal Aid colleagues, members of UAW Local 2325, who have voted to strike. We will support them every way we can–in the workplace and on the picket line. Despite multiple bargaining sessions and a historic meeting between the Association of Legal Advocates and Attorneys and the mayor’s office–which has indicated they want to avoid a strike—management’s offer to the attorneys is inadequate and unacceptable. We offer our steadfast support and solidarity with UAW Local 2325 members as they fight for a fair contract. “
