Nation’s Largest Healthcare Union w/300,000 NY Members Supports Gov. for Reelection

1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (“1199SEIU”) today announced their endorsement of Governor Kathy Hochul for reelection. Representing 450,000 frontline healthcare workers in five states and the District of Columbia, 1199SEIU the largest and fastest-growing healthcare union in New York and nationwide with some 300,000 members in New York State. 

1199SEIU’s Executive Council–the union’s highest decision-making body comprised of rank-and-file members and elected officers from every region of 1199SEIU, voted to support Hochul late last week. 

“Governor Kathy Hochul defended our patients and the state's hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and home care programs when the Trump Administration cruelly cut $1 trillion in healthcare funding to give tax breaks to billionaires and pump more money into ICE. Bruce Blakeman is running for governor to build on Trump's vicious attacks on immigrant New Yorkers, reproductive rights, and our civil liberties. Governor Hochul has aggressively fought back to protect New Yorkers. Blakeman is no friend to labor: he's promised to cut Medicaid further and take his partnership with ICE statewide. That is unacceptable.
