Caregivers Picket Outside Unlimited Care in White Plains

July 2, 2025

“We are Being Short-Changed by Unlimited Care!”

Home care workers picketed outside of Unlimited Care, Inc. (“Unlimited Care”) in White Plains earlier today. Community supporters and elected officials joined the workers protesting Unlimited Care’s refusal to sign a fair contract with their dedicated staff.

‘We are being short-changed by Unlimited Care. I love my work and want to keep doing it, but I also need a living wage and good benefits,” said Irma L. Vargas who has worked for seven years at Unlimited Care.

The caregivers, members of 1199SEIU, explained that they negotiated an agreement with Unlimited Care four months ago that includes wage increases and maintains their benefits–but management has refused to sign the agreement.

Unlimited Care is a licensed home care agency that markets themselves as helping  “you secure the highest quality health care services.” The workers protesting say that they do provide the highest quality care and are committed to doing so but wonder how much longer they can continue doing this vital work in one of the most expensive communities in the country–without a fair contract that would allow them to keep up with the cost of living.
