Location and Time:

TODAY AT NOON: - 4 p.m. VASSAR BROTHERS MEDICAL CENTER, 45 Reade Pl., Poughkeepsie

WHAT: Since March, 1199SEIU healthcare workers have been doing everything they can to keep patients, communities and themselves safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, while facing enormous pressure every day. They have been without consistent access to vital, appropriate, and fitting personal protective equipment (PPE), often haven’t had the information needed to do their jobs, and received mixed messages from management. They have risked their health, and some have risked their lives.

Other healthcare employers in the Hudson Valley have recognized the level of risk and sacrifice that frontline healthcare workers are making during the COVID-19 pandemic, and have shown their appreciation by providing compensation, bonuses, or rewards. 1199SEIU healthcare workers have been calling on Nuvance Health to do the same, but the administration has refused.

All participants will be wearing masks and standing at least 6 ft to 10 ft apart. **Photo opportunities and interviews will be available at each site, however, under social distancing rules, it may not be possible to interview the participants face to face. 1199SEIU will arrange phone/Zoom/etc. interviews by request, either before or after the picket. (518.229.0486 )

Care and services will not be interrupted during the picket. Participants will be on the line on their own time; a break or their time off.
