1199SEIU League of Registered Nurses Office of Continuing Education fosters the professional growth and development of its RN members and the nursing community at large. We are committed to providing quality need-specific continuing education programs that are reflective of current issues and trends in healthcare and nursing.

PURPOSE:

This seminar is offered to meet the training requirements of Chapter 544 of the Laws of 1988 that states that all physicians, chiropractors, dentists, registered nurses, podiatrists, optometrists, psychologists and dental hygienists must provide documentation of having completed two hours coursework or training about the identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment to obtain or renew a license. The target audience are registered nurses and other licensed professionals who require this training.

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

• Define what constitutes “Abuse”, “Maltreatment” and “Neglect” according to NY State law

• Identify physical finding of abuse, maltreatment and /or neglect
