When we fight, we win! The 2019 Leadership Conference convened Friday, April 12 and ran through Sunday, April 14th in Linthicum, MD, with over 350 members standing strong in attendance. The New York delegation consisted of members of African descent from different ethnic backgrounds and cultures, including our AFRAM STARS, millennials & retirees.

We heard from some phenomenal speakers including 1199SEIU President George Gresham and SEIU 32BJ Secretary-Treasurer Kyle Bragg, who fired up and energized the audience. Our focus for the weekend was to prepare our members for the 2020 elections, and the charge was to increase our community presence, and recruit and develop young leaders.

“I’m excited to lead the members of the New York Chapter to fight for our country, our children, for our immigrant sisters and brothers, our seniors, the homeless, and of course our members,” said Leah Nelson, President of the AFRAM SEIU New York Chapter. “AFRAM SEIU NEW YORK is ready, inspired and suited for the charge! When we fight, yes, WE WIN!”
