1199SEIU Open House Welcomes Delegates, Friends to New Downtown Syracuse Office

March 2, 2012

1199SEIU opened the doors to their new Central New York location in downtown Syracuse on January 25, and welcomed hundreds of Delegates, community allies, local elected officials, and employers to view the new space and enjoy musical entertainment, drinks, and appetizers from various downtown eateries.

“We are happy to announce,” said Vice President Ruth Heller, “that the new office location at 250 S. Clinton Street meets all of the items on our wish list: a larger community and membership meeting room, training rooms, a member resource center complete with computers, printers and fax machines, accessibility for our members by being on a bus line, lots of parking, and handicapped access, and closer proximity to our elected officials so we can better hold them accountable.”

The evening was capped off with an emotional dedication of the member meeting room to former Organizer Stacey Grimes, who passed away in August. Stacey was a loyal, positive and inspirational influence in the union effort for health care workers in Upstate NY.
