Healthcare Worker Committee Unanimously Votes To Endorse Mayoral Candidate, Plans Set To Help Get Out The Vote
Yvonne Armstrong, President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, released the following statement on the Federal Government Shutdown:
Members of 1199SEIU have launched a bargaining campaign for new three-year contracts at four nursing homes across Florida that would deliver fair and reasonable wage increases to keep up with the rapidly rising cost of living in the state.
Florida members and delegates were among the first to join new 1199SEIU national leadership in a conversation about our union’s future when President Yvonne Armstrong hosted a multi-day listening tour in numerous locations in the state.
Bargaining committee members of 1199SEIU are negotiating with Tenet Healthcare for a new contract that will stem rampant turnover and the staffing, retention and care crisis at the corporation’s four major hospitals in Palm Beach County.

ORLANDO – Members of 1199SEIU joined a listening tour hosted by Central Florida Public Media and WMFE to share the many challenges and rewards of working in nursing homes and caring for the region’s elderly.
Members and staff of 1199SEIU Florida made their voices heard this Labor Day in events spanning the state to tell elected officials that the needs of working families should come first, rather than giant tax breaks and other favors to billionaires and big business.
