Lewiston, NY - Yesterday, the three separate bargaining units represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new four-year agreement with Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston. More than 350 union healthcare workers at the hospital are covered by the new contract, which includes nurses, service and maintenance workers, technical workers, and other professional staff.
Buffalo, NY – More than 600 Nursing Home Workers at four for-profit facilities overwhelmingly ratified a 3-year contract last week, while workers at 5 facilities overwhelmingly voted to authorize 5-day strikes in the fight for a fair contract. Caregivers are part of a joint campaign of more than 1,200 nursing home workers at 12 for-profit facilities across Western New York who held oneday strikes mid-July. BUFFALO, NY -- Starting on September 13th until September 15th, more than 6,300 union healthcare workers employed by Kaleida Health, represented by CWA and 1199SEIU, will vote on whether to authorize a strike after months of contract negotiations. Having already extended their contract twice, and following last week’s informational picket calling out critical staffing shortages jeopardizing patient care, Kaleida health employees are demanding a swift resolution from the largest hospital system in Western New York.
