The West Indian Day Parade took place on Labor Day, Monday September 2nd. Cloudy skies and torrential downpours did not stop one of the most colorful and exciting parades, NYC has to offer, from taking place. 1199ers geared up in their carnival costumes, T-shirts and umbrellas and marched proudly down Eastern Parkway along with their brothers and sisters from other unions, organizations, and a host of activists, celebrities and politicians. Everyone immersed themselves in rich Caribbean culture, music and heritage.
