Yvonne Armstrong, President-elect of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, released the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s newly announced travel ban:
“The healthcare workers of 1199SEIU condemn, in the strongest terms, the outrageous, racist, and cruel travel ban placed by the Trump administration on citizens of 12 countries. These restrictions serve no purpose other than to stoke bigotry and hatred as a smokescreen to distract from the challenges Americans are facing under Trump’s pro-billionaire, anti-worker agenda.
“As a proud union of caregivers who hail from virtually every country in the world, we know that our nation’s diversity is our greatest strength. This arbitrary and rushed ban will separate families and cause unnecessary hardship and stress for tens of thousands of immigrants who are already here, working in our healthcare facilities and other jobs providing care to Americans.”
