In January, more than 2,000 nursing home workers voted to prioritize Medicaid expansion in advance of their contract negotiations at 65 facilities in order to ensure an additional 1.2 million Floridians have access to healthcare through Medicaid.
As a result, caregivers will be front and center in the upcoming legislative session, which lasts from March through May, when lawmakers will decide whether to accept federal funding to expand Medicaid in Florida.
These nursing home caregivers are among the millions of American working families who currently don't qualify for Medicaid but make too little to afford quality health insurance.
