On Friday, October 22, the union contracts covering 1,800 service workers at Strong Memorial Hospital and University of Rochester Campus since 2018 expired following a short extension. On Tuesday, October 12, Senator Chuck Schumer joined home care members and advocates in our Manhattan headquarters to urge Congress to pass President Biden’s Better Care Better Jobs Act. The act would provide $400 billion to expand homecare and community-based organizations, creating more jobs for homecare workers and allow more people to remain in their homes and receive the vital care they need.
