Statement on Nomination of Gwynne Wilcox to the NLRB

New York, NY – 1199SEIU President George Gresham today released the following statement on the White House’s nomination of counsel Gwynne Wilcox to the National Labor Relations Board:

“We could not be prouder of our sister Gwynne Wilcox on her nomination to the National Labor Relations Board.  Gwynne has spent her career fighting for justice and equity for working people.

“She is beyond qualified, and her confirmation would place her firmly in the annals of history as the first Black woman to sit on the National Labor Relations Board since its inception in 1935.

“1199 members in five states and the District of Columbia have better contracts, benefits, and wages because of Gwynne’s hard work and dedication, and we are certain that as a Member of the Board she will effectively advance the work of the National Labor Relations Board.”
