Hospitals Are For Healing Rally

Frontline healthcare workers and nurses are speaking out about an incident that happened at Maimonides Hospital on Thursday, February 6. After an overly aggressive and violent confrontation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)Agents, two patients were admitted to Maimonides.

As healthcare professionals work to heal patients, ICE agents are occupying space in the patient care area of the hospital. Their presence is likely causing fear for other immigrant patients. As the main trauma-receiving Emergency Department for a large section of Brooklyn Maimonides caregivers are concerned about patients foregoing care out of fear of violence or ICE enforcement activity.

On Friday, February 7, healthcare workers and nurses from Maimonides and immigrant advocates from the New York Immigration Coalition are rallying near the hospital to demand our hospitals return to being a safe space for patient care.
