Our public transportation system is vital for working people and the economy, it benefits public health and the environment, and it is one of the core features that make our city great. Our Governor and Mayor have taken bold action together to make the largest investment in MTA infrastructure in history, which will facilitate major upgrades and expansions, and ensure a safer and more reliable transit system. At a time when infrastructure is severely underfunded and crumbling in much of the country, creating unsafe conditions, this is exactly the kind of progressive leadership that our city and state need. The nurses and healthcare workers of 1199SEIU will continue to strongly support investment in infrastructure and public transit so New York works for all working people. ”
