Last week, 1199SEIU received two tractor trailers of donations from the disaster relief organization Americares, which will be distributed to members in areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Americares, which was founded in 1982, is a non-profit disaster relief and humanitarian aid agency which works with the private sector to donate and distribute basic health and medical supplies to those in need. Americares’ donation to 1199SEIU included 50 pallets of items, e.g. Lysol, blankets, Listerine and nutritional supplements.

Distribution centers are currently being set up by 1199SEIU staff and organizers. 1199SEIU staffers have inventoried the donations which are currently being prepared for delivery to distribution sites. For more information contact your organizer.
