199SEIU, Representing 50,000 Massachusetts Healthcare Workers, to Endorse Seth Moulton for Congress

WHAT: 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East will announce its endorsement of Seth Moulton (D) for Congress during an event tomorrow outside the Lynn Community Health Center. Union and non-union healthcare employees, personal care attendants and homecare workers will discuss Moulton’s commitment to community healthcare and strong advocacy for policies that support Massachusetts workers, including living wages and earned sick time.

With nearly 50,000 healthcare workers throughout the Commonwealth, including workers in every city and town in the 6th Congressional District, 1199SEIU is one of the most politically active labor unions in Massachusetts.

Homecare workers will join the event tomorrow to discuss their work in an industry that is among the highest-demand, fastest-growing occupations in the nation. Homecare employees also rank among the lowest paid workers in the country, despite their critical work caring for the elderly and people with disabilities. As the homecare industry continues to grow, workers are demanding a living wage so they can provide for their families while helping millions of Americans remain in their own homes and live with dignity and respect.

Moulton has also earned the endorsement of the SEIU State Council, which is comprised of several SEIU Locals in Massachusetts, including 1199SEIU.
