1199SEIU President George Gresham announced that Debra Pucci has been appointed as his Chief of Staff. Ms. Pucci has worked for over 25 years in community organizing with the not-for-profit, labor and government sectors. Most recently she served as Executive Director of the 1199SEIU-Greater New York Hospital Association Healthcare Education Project, which works to ensure all New Yorkers have quality, accessible health care. Prior to joining HEP, Debra worked with the Children’s Defense Fund/NY, advocating for programs and policies that lift children out of poverty. In 1986, she joined the administration of David N. Dinkins, when he served as Borough President and then Mayor, where she worked in an advisory capacity and developed initiatives to improve race and ethnic relations.

“Debra has been part of the 1199 family for a long time, and I’m excited that she’s continuing to advance our work in her new position as Chief of Staff,” said President Gresham. “Her skills, conviction and experience will help us continue to build a social justice movement for good jobs and quality healthcare for all working people.”
