“The healthcare workers of 1199SEIU stand in solidarity with the people of Flint, Michigan, who have been affected by lead-poisoned water in a devastating and ongoing public health crisis. Access to safe, clean, affordable water is a fundamental human right. As caregivers, we know that the long term effects of lead poisoning can have disastrous health and economic outcomes on families, their children and their communities. We join with Flint citizens to demand clean water, an independent investigation into the crisis, accountability for those who are responsible, investment in infrastructure upgrades, and access to medical care and financial compensation for the victims of the poisoned water.”

-George Gresham, President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, the largest healthcare union in the nation.
