1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East represents nearly 450,000 healthcare workers in the eastern region of the United States from Buffalo, New York, to southeastern Florida. Our members work in every setting of the healthcare and social service professions: hospitals, nursing homes, home care, community–based clinics, mental health agencies, university laboratories, libraries and more. We are the largest local in the Service Employees International Union, the fastest-growing international union in the country. Although 1199ers work under many collective bargaining contracts throughout the region, our overarching goal is to win the highest possible standards for workers and patients in every single 1199SEIU institution.
