Union that has pushed candidates over the top will do whatever it takes to win Local Living Wage Laws, Dream Act, Campaign Finance Reform, Women’s Rights

“Just as the 250,000 healthcare workers of 1199SEIU in New York have worked recently to put our candidates over the top, we are going to be putting the full force of our union into the effort to elect a strong Democratic majority to the State Senate. We want to make sure the Senate and the Independent Democratic Conference can work effectively with Governor Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio, the Assembly and other leaders to pass a full set of progressive legislation, including local living wage laws, the Dream Act, campaign finance reform and women’s rights. In addition, we will be advocating for legislation that is important for healthcare workers and our patients that was previously blocked by Republicans, including increased protection from assaults on frontline caregivers and a career ladder for homecare workers that will allow them to provide the best care to seniors and people with disabilities. Nurses and caregivers will be knocking on doors, phone-banking, and doing whatever it takes to make sure we have the strongest voice for quality care, good jobs and ensuring New York is a state where working families can thrive.”
