What: Every year, 1199SEIU's Training & Upgrading Fund, in partnership with participating health care employers across the state, provides health care workers with pathways to educational and professional success: a college degree, a professional certification, and the skills to succeed in a constantly changing workplace.
These partners include: Cape Cod Healthcare, Steward Health Care (including Morton Hospital, Good Samaritan, amongst others), Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Plymouth, Golden Living Centers, Essex Group Nursing Homes, and more.
Graduates of the Training Fund go on to bigger and better things in hospitals and other healthcare facilities across Massachusetts.
This Thursday evening, graduates, current participants, and supporters of the Training Fund will gather at Massachusetts Maritime Academy to celebrate the accomplishments of its Cape Cod and South Shore members and the program that made those accomplishments possible. Speakers will testify to the impact the Training Fund has had on their own lives and thank the teachers, mentors, and labor & management leaders that make Massachusetts' Training Fund one of the top-ranked programs of its kind in the country.
Who: Training & Upgrading Fund graduates, current participants, teachers, and administrators; members and leaders from 1199SEIU and other labor organizations on the South Shore and Cape Cod, managers and employees of healthcare providers on the South Shore and Cape Cod that partner with the Training Fund to provide resources and career opportunities to Fund graduates.
Kim Bassett, President of Morton Hospital in Taunton, will address attendees.
