“What makes New York City great is that everyone can pursue their dreams here and build a better future for their children. But growing inequality has threatened to make our city unaffordable for the vast majority of New Yorkers. Thanks to Mayor de Blasio and the City Council, real estate developers will now be required to include affordable units for working New Yorkers in all new construction. This is the strongest affordable housing policy in the nation, and will preserve the character and promise of New York. Homecare workers, nurse assistants, emergency medical technicians and other healthcare workers applaud this landmark bill, because it will allow caregivers to live in the same communities where we provide quality care to New Yorkers.”
