New Study Outlines Path to Safeguard Quality Patient Care and Healthcare Jobs in Lynn

On Thursday, May 26, thirty two caregivers from Alaris Health at the Atrium, an assisted living facility in Jersey City, NJ, voted overwhelmingly to organize a union with 1199SEIU. The personal care attendants (PCAs) and certified medical assistants (CMAs) decided to organize after seeing the improvements that union membership brought to workers next door, at Alaris’ Hamilton Park nursing home which has been an 1199 facility for many years.

Orlando, FL – After months of negotiations, Consulate Health Care and caregivers represented by 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East in Florida settled their contract with a significant victory that will increase the minimum wage from $8.05 to $10.40 benefitting over 700 workers and will put a large percentage of the caregivers on a path to earning a living wage of $15 an hour by 2020.
